Evening all,

as per my thread in the Ford forum, I'm gearing up to buy a Sierra Cosworth in the next few months. Part of this will involve finding a decent garage who are familiar with Sierras. Are there any good Ford specialists in the Newcastle and Northumberland areas?

quite often see cosworths in R&P Woods in Heaton (Newton Road). They appear to get good press on this forum for most unusual tackle.

I know it isn't Newcastle but the guy who owns (or at least owned a few years back) Stockton Tuning Centre has an encyclopaedic knowledge of all things Cosworth and owns a few very nice ones of his own.

Excellent, thanks very much. Are they the ones based on the small roundabout next to the school and the 20mph zone? I work in Byker so I'll pop over one day if I get a spare ten minutes just to speak to them and see if they can work on a Sierra for me. Thanks very much!

Yes there the boys. They are behind the row of shops on Newton Road. They look after a wide range performance cars including a Ferrari.

Just to add a bit of balance...
I wouldn't let them loose on lego set.
Both me and a mate had an absolute nightmare when we left our cars here. Both RSs too funnily enough.
I'm going back 12-13 years now but NEVER AGAIN.

They seem to be quite well spoken of on here though, so maybe they've changed and actually know how to fix things now.
Judge them for yourself. I did and I will never go back.

I have had a couple of positive experiences with imperial racing in jesmond, that said the jobs werent too involved, but they seemed to have a good approach

Ah yes, I'd not thought of Imperial Racing. A bit more of a hassle to get to than Newton Road, but only another five minutes drive.

I know some clubs are a bit 'clicky' but it's usually worth asking at the local RSOC see who they use. Often very skilled and knowledgable members offer services to fellow members.

I attended the IAM National Conference last week and Prestige Car Servicing had a stand there. They guarantee to cut the cost of the main dealers with 350 service centres across the UK - but I don't know anyone who has tried them yet....

I don't think they will be 'cheap' as they can collect/deliver and valet your vehicle for you wink

Has anyone used them before?

Top lurking! smile
You're right though. When we were into Cosworths, way back when, we'd always travel to get them sorted.
No one up here was any good.

Lovely looking Escort you have there.

That Escort is a stunner! I've been put off the Sierra Cosworth idea though, mainly because I got in touch my insurer and asked for some stats. The Cosworths they had on their books were over three times as likely to have claims for theft damage as an equivalent car like a Skyline GTR. They told me I'd be better of paying more to insure a Skyline because typically, they were far less trouble! mad

Dreams of getting a Skyline aside though, I decided to buy an MR2 Turbo instead, and just after purchasing it I found out that there is an MR2 Turbo specialist in Cramlington, who I'll be going to for all work in future!

Thanks again for the replies.
