Passed the scene a couple of times today, there seemed to be skidmarks heading actually over the top of the roundabout, not sure if they're linked.
Be interesting how many more details come to light.

Young lad driving parents car, 6 passengers and 2 killed. Someones son at work knows a passenger of the car, terrible accident but not sure on what actually happened. Spotted the skid marks myself starting just after the central island of the roundabout but they are a fair way back from where the car ended up so not sure if related either.

wondered what had happened yesterday morning. I was heading to Teesside Park for a pre-meet for a drive down to Cars In The Park earlyish yesterday morning. The police had closed off the A66 from the Thornaby turn off and Tesside Park.
very sad and tragic news.
Yes extremely tragic especially at such a young age.very sad and tragic news.

Saw this on another forum, don't know if there's any truth in it:-
'They recon that people carrier that crashed last week was doing 80 miles an hour, went straight over the mini roundabout when it flipped over and rolled 6 times, killing 2 of the occupants,'
Looking at the skid marks that were there, it's entirely possible. If it's come down the bank at speed, the weight of the passengers could easily make it bottom out and hen lead to a loss of control.'They recon that people carrier that crashed last week was doing 80 miles an hour, went straight over the mini roundabout when it flipped over and rolled 6 times, killing 2 of the occupants,'
6 times seems excessive though.
Just to quote what a friend of mine said, this seems to me what has happened,

Where the accident happened there's a small roundabout with one of the exits leading onto the A66 and if it's quiet it's perfectly possible for you to come down from stockton n fly over the wrong side of the roundabout n straight onto the A66 without losing too much speed, however it's tighter than it looks and creates a sort of mini chicane which is hard to negotiate if you're going too fast. In my opinion judging by the direction of the very clear skid marks he was doing just this but due to his lack of experience and unsuitable vehicle took it far too fast for him or the car to handle which is why he clipped the kerb and rolled it subsequently losing two of his friends forever.

We can't make assumptions until any results of investigations are published.
Maybe - except it would not have overturned several times at 30 to 40 mphand as already ponted out the skid marks show taking the roundabout the wrong way to straighten out the entry onto the 66, still say he was probably showing off to his mates showing them that even a people carrier can be fast
no other cars involved and good weather conditions

and that is exactly how it did happen, my mate from work was following it and was overtaken by the people carrier seconds before it happened, it more or less just stopped rolling as he caught it up, my poor mate was with the lad in the front when he passed away, he,s still churned up about it now, he was in a right state when he phoned me to tell me about itA friend said:
