Month stay in Newcastle???

I'm trying to find accomodation for a friend in Newcastle for one month only.
Does anybody have any ideas on the most reasonable alternative to a one month flat rental in Newcastle. These work out at about £500 per week for a city centre flat with parking. Novotels £65 per night.

He can stay at mine for 25 quid a night, a return bus to town is about a fiver, quids in!

on a more serious note, if its outside uni term time have a look into staying in the halls of residence which are often opened up to the public in the summer. Or maybe a b&b a little outside the city centre.
