its shepherds scrap yard well and truely ablaze, roads are a nightmare (I work on city road about 100 yards from it)

Bloody firebrigade have nicked all our water too, may need to shut office soon if the karzies are out of action :-)

Quite amusing actually, byker bridge is lined with spectators, there's even a few ice cream vans cashing in.

I go for a walk every lunch time so thought I would have a walk down today... Well impressive... Brightened up an otherwise dull day at the office!

Yes, I saw that as I was driving to work in Byker today. Byker Bridge was rammed with rubberneckers. It looked as though the rubber in the scrap yard was burning up at approximately 0125 when I crossed Byker Bridge, giving the smoke a black colour. It ended up white later on, after the high pressure hose had been dropped into the river to provide water.
