North York Moors run - Lion Inn, Blakey
Discussion
Arr well Tom the A171 isn't on our plan. I see it as a fabulous road but I'm also conscious of the boy racer and born again biker brigade. They really spoil the A171 by driving beyond their ability. There is one famous moors road on our plan. The B1257 is used as a race track by the born again bikers. They keep you on your toes.

Hey Bob I hope you've booked the weather in advance with the guy in the sky.....
I'm updating the ealier post to show those who have confirmed.
the mind boggles...wildfire, she's said yes to going to the middle of nowhere and getting driven fast? you're a better salesperson than I thought!
anyway, I thought you'd all like to see a picture of the sort of roads we'll be encountering a few miles north of the lion:
we really ought to stop at the crossroads signposted to fryup for a photo opp - perhaps we shouldn't stop for a photo opp just a few miles further up the road here though...
(couldn't resist)

That road looks delicious!
Can't wait to take the Marcos up there sometime.
Maybe we'll have to organise a repeat trip sometime when the weather is bit fairer (and my car is up and running...).
Is anybody into video at all?
The videos of the various Surrey Runs are great to watch, and I wondered if anyone had a video camera to capture the action?

as I said before Bob, I hope you don't mind waiting for me
Perhaps we need to develop the concept of 'stefan stones'. Places along the way where we stop to let people catch up. I'll think on this one.
Stefan Stones
Sounds a good idea though.
Yep I will try to bring a DV camera. If I get enough good footage, I will edit it and post it or burn it on to a DVD. (I do freelance video editing/DVD authoring)
If anyone else can bring one it would be good also.

I've got a canon A70 which takes movies, but I'm limited to about 3mins of 320, or 10seconds of 640*480 Still it takes nice photos.
Stefan Stones sound good I can find my own way to the place if necessary tho - don't want to hold everyone up too much (I might be able to keep up with your vectra mates Bob

I think you'll do fine. Just gain confidence as you go along. Open country roads are excellent for that. Be prepared to have a go and it'll come good soon enough. We'll be pushing it on some stretches and coasting on others so just try to stay with us. We're not going to leave you behind but we will want to play. If you're trying well that's all we can ask.

Bob, I personally value my licence and the lack of points (been so young I couldn't afford insurance or do some of things I hope to do), so will be doing my upmost to enjoy myself up to the speed limit.
So that will keep my speed down, but wondering what is round the next corner also slows me down somewhat - I'm am painfully aware if I crash the Marlin, I'm pretty much dead.
Still, we'll see If I'm too slow for you lot, then as I say, I'll bring an road map and meet you there.
