Have had a notice up in my block asking if anyone has a free one (or even part of one - it's for a motorbike), to no response. Tried dudrich/lockupgarages.co.uk - everything in my area is let. Tried gumtree, nothing. Tried parklet.co.uk, all plain parking spaces near me.

Anywhere else I should be looking or anything else to try? Was pondering sticking some leaflets through some other nearby blocks to see if anyone has one available. If you rent one, share how you found it!

The council normally own and rent block of garages. Contact them to see what they have in your area. Usually reasonably priced.

Had the same issue myself, discovered that one of the local estate agents has a monopoly on garage lettings/sales. Had a space in a double available and only 100 yds from home. Take a wander round your local high st and one of the property lot will deal in them. As usual be prepared for general unreasonableness.

I got mine through a company called Dudrich Holdings or something similar. They have hundreds of them - when I first moved to North London I was able to carry on my rent from the lock up I had in Chelmsford.

It was a few years ago, but worth a web search on that name.

Ta, but Dudrich was one of the places I tried - nothing near me, and I'm on the waiting list now.

not specifically a lockup, but when I was looking for a garage space I went round the various apartment blocks that had underground parking and put leaflets in all of the letterboxes. Ended up getting about 6 different responses, 1 of which I have been happily renting for almost a year. Obviously takes a bit of effort but may well be worth it

Noticed an advert in the Evening Standard yesterday -NCP are doing a deal on season tickets to allow you to use all of their London carparks for £999/year.

Looked (in the advert) to be a pretty good deal if one is near you.

try buying a lockup garage...

I own one, and it's currently empty. Do you want to rent it?
It's in London, EC1, within the congestion charging zone.
