Rotherhithe Tunnel SPECS live date?

looks like the SPECS gantry is now up on the south side of the tunnel, and i've seen guys working on it over the last couple of weeks.

i'm so glad these are being put in place to stop the carnage and mayhem. 12 years in the area and the worst i've heard of are breakdowns, the odd lost wing mirror, and one vehicle fire which wasn't due to an accident.

what is the possible justification for the SPECS?

How did they justify the Gatsos? This would just be an extension of that. The Gatsos did nothing to limit in-tunnel speed, so I guess someone decided they should do better. Maybe it's to protect the pedestrians.

i think that's every river crossing east of london bridge patrolled by SPECS revenue generating systems. are people in a particular hurry when driving over/under the big brown/grey/green line that goes through london?
