Tube strikes and getting around
Discussion
Hi guys. After a bit of help from London based folk.
I am sat on a train to our nations great capital heading to st pancras. I need to be at an office near south kensington.
Can anyone help me with how replacement bus services etc work? Do you just hop up to street level and look for a bus with the name of the tube line on it? Anyone care to comment on just how much disruption there will be on the tube? I mean, if everyone avoids them then maybe they will be ok for moi?
Lastly, is my day travel card valid on buses?
Humblest apologies for dumb questions from a gruff northerner.

replacement buses will be clearly marked, go to every stop the tube would and are generally free. There is an employee at every stop to help guide people. You'll be fine. It's only certain parts of certain lines, just like travelling on a sunday, you hop on the bus for a few stops before getting back on the train.

Cheers for the advice.Yup - no replacement buses; thats when there are no tubes because the line is closed, not because Bob Crow and the luddites are out on strike. I hope you have, either, a good book to read while waiting, or, very comfy shoes because thats quite a long walk.
Cab is probably the best bet.

Not necessarily. They travel no faster than buses and, if the OP is arriving post-rush, the bus network is fine. Apparently there's an extra 100 buses on the road today too.LadyV8 managed to catch a bus from Liverpool St to Kings X earlier this morning without any problems.
