I am coming down to watch that shower of st that is our national football team today.

So, we get to Marylebone for around 3pm, we are planning to visit 5/6 pubs on our way to Wembley, So how far out of the way would it be to pop in DD's for one?

25/30 mins from Marylebone.

Walk to Baker St, and jump the Circle/Hammersmith/Metropolitan Line to Liverpool St.

Though it's not really the same when it's not full of PHers...

It is a dump to be fair, and not worth visiting. Going to Wembley will be depressing enough!

Have you checked a map?

Marylebone is west, Liverpool St is across town, then right back out again to Wembley.

You trying to groom the OP, Ed?

WC - There's no point going to DDs on a Friday afternoon - the only punters will be a few tramps.

If by tramps you mean City Traders having an early weekend start, students from the uni up the road or tourists looking for olde england then yes that's quite accurate.

Still a long way out of your way just to go to a boozer.

I suggest trying http://www.fancyapint.com/ to find a pub crawl that's more appropriate.

drink

Have a good evening.

Good choice.

There are ten better pubs within 100m, I've never worked out why it's the location of the City Drinking anyway.

1. Becase it's the most expensive
2. Because the service is so slow
3. Because it's cramped and airless
4. Because it's the only place that'll have us
5. Because it's tradition

Mainly the latter probably!

Because someone made the effort to organise it, and DDs is an easy pub for people to find. It's good when people actually make something happen. Now, three years on, it's a tradition. C'mon, you know the reasons. Three cheers for Timmy.

If you're at Marylebone you might as well start off in The Metropolitan next door .. converted railway headquarters .. i likes it anyway - much nicer ambience than Dicks i.e. doesn't smell like a toilet.

6. Because it's the only pub in the City that has a standing stock of 500 bottles of Smirnoff Ice and 30 sambuca shot glasses?

I'm still recovering from the last time I attended I think.

City drinks have been happening at DDs for a good while longer than 3 years - in fact, TVRCC City Region used to meet there before PH was in it's current form so it's definitely a long standing tradition!
