A13 - Are SPEC cameras active?

I seem to be the only person who obeys the speed limit on that stretch of the A13 with the SPECS cameras.

Does anyone know if they are active? I read somewhere that they would be live this summer.

Not yet. When they go live the limit is going up to 50mph.

There are signs saying "camera's under test" or similar. I do anywhere between 40-65 depending on road conditions.

The issue is prolly in which lane you do 40-65?

There is only 1 lane that is possible (Inside one)

i thought it was going up to 50, but last night i noticed they have put some new sign's up with the average camera part blanked out, speed limit sign above was 40mph tho. Cant remember where it was but will check tonight.

answered myself. ALL the new signs have stickers on so on go live it should be 50.

No bad thing, as it is the worst road in the country for bellend driving.

Yeah, but Road Angel's always said the bit past Billingsgate was Specs, but it never has been. I used to take every bleep from them with a pinch of salt.

not active yet, but judging by the new average speed camera signs(which have been temporarily sprayed over), it might be soon. They was meant to have completed it back in the summer time. When they do go active they're supposed to raise the speed limit from canning town outwards, up to 50mph.

I dunno, I find if you stick to lane 1 you usually have it all to yourself.

Yup, and sadly I suspect it's not going to be 50mph all the way and some sections will stay 40, but still under specs

It is a shame that they do not instal some sort of system to stop the middle lane hogs who seem to make the A13 their own-I travel daily up this road and if drivers kept to correct lane then most people would drive slower but the middle laners seem to make road their own so other drivers see the inside and outside lanes as a way to progress .This I think is why so many people speed up this road - sheer frustration !!

Any idea what the score is with the system now? Noticed the signs have had black spray paint put on them so it says something like "speed cameras" with no mention of "under test"
