Morning All,

We've got the opportunity to stay in a friend-of-a-friends apartment in Lake Road, off Woodside, SW19, over Easter.

As I suffer an aversion to public transport, I'd prefer to drive down there but would need to park the car, obviously. For complicated reasons a residents permit isn't available and i'm told there's no parking on site.

Is there anywhere in Wimbledon I can park the car for four days without a fiscal raping?

Appreciate any help guys, Ta.

Hi guys, any suggestions? I'm not asking to park on anyone's front drive or anything smile, just wondering if there is any affordable parking in the area which i could use to justify not having to use the train.

Thanks.

As a North Londoner, I'm not sure about this. But, there's this open space in Wimbledon. It will be free over Easter as, for some reason, it's only used for two weeks a year. Sick the car anywhere, no one will notice.

Depends how far away you want your car to be. The issue is a lot of the surrounding area is residents only etc. Near where I am isn't, but is about 20 mins walk away, although it is a quiet cul de sac (not sure of anywhere closer, sorry). Will PM you if you want?

There's a detailed map on the local council's website.

TBH you might be better off parking in a back street in New Malden and taking the train in (2 stops). I hate public transport and would rather do this than pay the car hating nazis.

PM'ed you, hope it helps. I did notice on the way in to work today that you can park on Durnsford road, but it is a main road.

Honestly? Leave the car at home. yes

More of a hindrance than a help. Don't get me wrong - I drive into central London for various reasons several times a year as there are occasions where using the car is far preferable. But for a weekend away? Seriously you are better off not taking it if you don't have pre-arranged off-street parking.

Anything you could possibly want to do as a grockle in London is reachable by tube anyway. Get an Oyster card, charge it up and enjoy yourself.

Go driving another weekend somewhere more suited to it.

Yeah, appreciate what you're saying, but i was just looking to use the car simply to get to and from Wimbledon and then leave it parked up for the duration. IWe've got to faff about about with taxis at this end to and from the station, and i just thought it would be nicer to drive door to door, but for the problem of parking at Wimbledon.

Office Monkey has suggested parking at an industrial estate, which is a thought 'cos in they're in use 24 hrs, aren't they? Plus my old Bora is still fine to use but i wouldn't worry about it being parked up for four days.

I'll have to make a decision by tonight methinks.

Right, well that all worked out a treat. In the end i parked in a place called Manningtree Close, which is off Augustus Drive which runs between Inner Park Road and Southfields tube station.

That meant just a 5 minute walk from parking space to the tube, which was just 2 stops for Wimbledon. Plus, it turned out we were able to park outside our apartment on Saturday night, and Sunday, and bh Monday, so i was able to move the car and park right outside where we were staying, which was nice. smile

So thanks very much guys, for your help, PH comes up trumps again. And thanks Office Monkey for the emails, mate. thumbup

Nice one, and nice to know that I can dump visitors cars there and avoid getting parking permits if they stay for more than a few days.

I remember when this was all fields is now replaced with I remember when this was all free parking.
