All,

Anyone know of a decent hand car wash in East London? There are loads around but I'm always too nervous to try half the places just in case they use a stone filled cloth etc! I live at Canary Wharf but don't mind travelling a few miles to someone does a decent job.

Thanks all

I used to use the one at Asda near you - seemed decent enough.

I use a place out in Rainham on the main drag - bit of a way out on the A12 - get off at Hornchurch exit. Gives the car a decent run (8 mile round trip from the wharf). The one I use is an ex-garage forecourt all painted yellow (next door to Elite tyres) - good job inside and out / wax etc. The guys there really take pride in their work and charge about £15.

Thanks for the replies. Used the Asda one a few times but not really keen on them using their plastic wiping things for drying the car my (new to me) black AM V8. Hence am willing to travel a little further to make sure the car is looked after when getting a wash.

Think I know the one in Rainham - Once got my tyre changed a Elite tyres (were very good and efficient) so would be willing to give it a shot if you think they are good.

Oh. I specifically asked them not to use that on the M3 or the 355.
I now use a Polish bunch on the road between Surrey Quays and Greenwich.
They use wollen wash mitts and use 2 bucket method.

Can't say I'm unhappy with the results. £10 inside and out.

i'll second this lot. they do use the soft plastic blades to flick the bulk of the water off though.

there's a car wash in the carpark accessable via westferry circus (lower) too

They don't use the blade on my ones, probably again because I asked them not to.

BTW, are you the red tamora burbling around the Peninsula?

In Canary Wharf there is an underground roundabout where you always see pics of cars meeting up before tunnel runs and suchlike.

One of the carparks under the Virgin gym (used to be Holmes Place) has a car wash.

They did my Ferrari F355 and also my DeLorean (which they were very accomodating about as it is a pain to wash).

They were always doing exotica and my cars always looked brlliant.

I live up the road and personally think they're rubbish.
The guys down the road after the Shell garage heading towards Greenwich are much better IMHO
