Afternoon boys & girls,

A few months back I was in the middle of London for my birthday at the time and realised as I strolled under the London Eye that I would love to come back & be able to park up as close to the River as I was when I walked under the Eye...Is there anywhere in a 500m-1000m radius of the eye that you can get away with parking right up next to the river...I'm planning a romantic evening smile

Preferably I'd want to be able to have the skyline/sights of London in front of me as the evening will be based around Trafalgar Square area & we shall be going around on foot & what not!

A bit of local knowledge would be very handy...We parked on one of the bridges by the eye when I last went which although it gives a great view, passing traffic & plenty of people doesn't make it ideal for what I want...Ideally I'd prefer something a bit more secluded if thats even possible but still gives me the beautiful view down by the riverside.

Any ideas?

What time and what day?

I believe after 6.30pm on a week day you can park on Waterloo Bridge.

I think Sat is after 6.30pm as well - might be 1.30pm ... you need to check.

Sunday I think the whole day is free.

There is at least one street level car park off Belvedere Rd/Upper Ground (by the South Bank centre).

St. Thomas's hospital at Westminster Bridge (stones throw from London Eye) has a pay and display car park, I had to travel up regularly last year and parking there for the hospital for hours at a time was not expensive. It's such a big place that you can walk into the entrance on the basement level, up the stairs and straight back out the front door! No one would know you're not visiting the hospital! Don't know what the price is at the moment. The car park is also under cover, so double bonus.

That's handy to know, although I don't think weaving through accident and emergency on a Saturday night is the the perfect start to a romantic evening!

(The end of the evening however, thats the norm for some people) smile
