I fancy London this year for NYE. Any parties being advertised yet ?

I got an invite for the Rooftop Gardens. Does not look that bad at all. Anything else going around that is worth mentioning ?

Good fireworks on Victoria Embankment.

If you can stand the hoi polloi.

I am tempted to venture into the city and go to some uber club night. However it just seems like too much effort, travelling anywhere will be a nightmare and prices will be stupid, so I'm thinking of propping up some bar more local to me instead.

Or just going to Berlin or something.

Went to Trafalgar Square last year and a couple of years ago to Westminster Abbey. All well, might go to Ministry of Sound in the O2 this year.

I have to ask.

Having lived in London all of my life, I could not think of a worse place to be in New Years Eve.

What is the attraction of being jammed in a mob of strangers waiting for a bell to ring?

I'm really not criticising what you did. Each to his own and all of that. But, for the life of me, it makes no sense.

Was it fun?

Well it wasn't the perfect place I had in mind but it was okay. It was not as crowded as I thought it would be. But at least I can tick that off my list now. biggrin

We did NYE at Traffalgar Square once. Horrible and never again.
These days we generally hide at home, watch crap TV and eat and drink till the bells toll (but sometimes we're asleep by then!).
Two previous memorable NYEs were Dinner on the Orient Express while being pulled along by the Flying Scotsman and two years ago on horseback riding through the breaking waves of the Indian Ocean (in South Africa).
This year it will be option A. Falling asleep in front of the telly.
