hiya,

i've just got a new car and familiarising myself with London streets, predominately in the south and south east london areas.

There are now 2 instances where i thought to myself, crap! if i was driving a ferrari (as you do) it would NOT fit within this lane let alone these two poles which happen to pop up now and then!?!?

One in particular set of poles is just before the entrance to the Rotherhithe tunnel south bound just by Limehouse? there is alot of damage on those poles and im sure alot more damage to the vehicles that caused it! im certain a supercar wouldnt fit through them...

fair enough the lanes in the tunnel are uber narrow but there is quite literally no forewarning for lost supercar owners who happen to be cruising through!

Rubbish, my 355 fits easily through there. Regularly.

ha!

well i'm fairly surprised but you're absolutely right.

the tightest of these "No Buses Allowed Lanes" i've seen are 7 foot in width and doing some quick research:

7 foot = 2133.6 mm (84 in)

Ferrari 355 width: 1900 mm (74.8 in)
Ferrari 360 width: 1922 mm (75.7 in)

not alot of room for error!

Gallardo certainly feels like a tight squeeze but actually there's a lot of room.

What makes me more nervous is the bend in the Rotherhithe tunnel, I leave a little room to make sure I don't curb the wheels and feel like I'm in the middle of the road.

I also wouldn't be heading South through their in the dark...

The 7 foot ones are easy, can do them at speed, it is the 6 foot six ones that you need to be carefull of.

Just breathe in and close your eyes. I find that always helps.

Some of these recently sprang up outside Bickley Station - I believe they are 6'6. The morning they were opened they were narrower and caused so much damage that they closed them again the same day to widen them to 6'6.

There's always a sprinkling of mirrors and car trim, usually scrummies in X5s & Qwhatevers rolleyes

Can't really see the point, just a huge bottleneck that wasn't there before as people are incapable of driving through at more than 0.1mpg (probably because hubby told them that this |<--->| is 8 inches hehe)

the rotherhithe tunnel bollards are decorated with paint from many years of car drivers mis-judging it, vans right on the size limit squeezing through it, and lorry drivers ignoring the restrictions and taking it on anyway (one of which realised this, backed out, straight into my car)

i'll tell you where isn't friendly, old castle st in aldgate east. the speed bumps/ crossings level with pavement are so severe that i can only take them in my tamora at 30degree+ angle, even at 0.5mph.
