North London Summer Meeting - 2nd August 2009
Discussion
At the Plough, Crews Hill, Enfield, although this may be subject to change.

Gizmo has suggested that we could hold the next meeting at the Harvester a mile or two away 'The Navigation Inn'

Pub reviews not that great though.
Time: 15.00/ 16.00 Suggest the 2nd of August, as the 26th of July is the date of the Hungarian GP / Silverstone Classic.
What about a barbecue if the weather is good? Thoughts anybody?

The only problem with that is that he's dissapearing off to the GOM Classic run in Germany this week and we'll both be away at Le Mans there after, so it's gonna be difficult to find the time to arrange anything.
I do think settling on a venue first would be good though - I think the initial confusion surrounding the last meet didn't help the attendance.
Whatever's sorted out I'm in. Might even have a new toy by then.

As has been suggested, the Land of Liberty, Peace and Plenty does seem a long way to go - nice though it is. How about the Candlestick? We passed it last Sunday, I'm going to have look at the car park later.

Looks like that has real potential - what's the car park likely to be like on a Sunday lunch time though? I checked out the pub on the main road in Essendon and it was a bit short for space. Maybe we should make contact and see how they'd take to potentially 30 or 40 cars turning up. Although I guess we could push it a bit later without issues. Speaking of the number of cars though, although we've had a lot more people at the meet, we've never had so many people come out for a drive, so things could get interesting. I guess we'd need a proper sweeper able to recce the route and maybe someone in the middle who knows it too? Let's face it, it wouldn't be a hardship for three of us to do a dry run at some point and get our bearings! ...All in the interests of public service of course.
[Going back to the '158] Freddie, Freddie, Freddie - you should have come out with us for the drive! We started off down the B158, but the roads that followed were a much better proposition still! (It might be an idea not to discuss them on there though )

Ah, what about The Colney Fox? Decent enough pub, not too busy (I think) easy to get to and from, big car park, good choice of roads for a hoon/blat/blast/keep up. I'll have a word...
There's a vague possibility I may have the perfect solution.
I went to a Lotus Seven Club meet last night and that was held at the club at Panshanger Airfield. It has a nice big car park and, on a week day evening at least, no one else around. May well be a special arrangement with that particular club and of course it may also be far busier at the weekends, but possibly worth a call?
