Following on from the other thread, I thought it might be a bit more 'visible' if we started a new one with the time and date in the title. smile

As the nights draw in we thought we'd try an afternoon meet this time and the 26th was picked out of a hat. The time was picked as early enough to retain some daylight for gawping at everyone's machinery, but hopefully late enough for some of the Sunday traffic to have died down.

The venue is The Plough in Crews Hill as per the last couple of meets (not far from where we held the first one either).

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&ge...

The map shows it on the wrong side of the road, but otherwise it's pretty accurate! Anyone coming from the M25 can do so two ways: Either get off at J24, follow the Enfield truning (The Ridgeway) down to the Botany Bay 30mph limit, take the first proper turning off to left (sign posted Crews Hill IIRC), turn right at the T-junction (about a mile off The Ridegway) and the pub is about 3/4 mile on your right. Or, get off at J25, follow the A10 towards London for a couple of hundred yards to the first set of traffic lights and turn right. Then take the next right (on the edge of a sharp left hand bend) and follow this road until you reach a T-junction. Turn right again and the pub is about 1/4 mile on your left.

I'll be there for this one, having missed the last. I shall be proceeding at 28 m.p.h. as I approach The Plough.

In case anyone is reading this thread for reasons other than an intention to attend.wavey

Yep, as The Stratos Kid has mentioned, take it easy past the plough. Not only do you get a few geriatrics wobbling around, the local constabulary have a habbit of parking up near there.

Other than that it's great!

So, who's likely to be coming?

1. Chris - TVR S3
2. Elliot - Lancia Stratos rep

I'm doing the Marham track day with it this Saturday with only 500 miles on the clock so far! I'll be changing the oil, oil filter, retorqueing and re adjusting the tappets just after the drivers briefing.
It's what you call a baptism of fire. So let's see if I still have the engine by then.

hehe

It'll be fine - takes a lot to kill an A-Series!

Did you have the new engine in last time?

Yes it was in last time with just the gentle purr of the webber 45.
I find that I do tend to break engines.
If I relate what happened last time, you experienced drivers may be able to tell me where I went wrong.

Here's the sequence of events.
First I pulled away in first gear slowly so as not to spin the wheels (and not break the factory weak halfshafts).
At 3500 rpm (it revs to 6000rpm) I changed up to second gear with a slow measure movement.
The same from second to third (but this time at 4500rpm).
From third gear I changed up to fourth gear (at 4500rpm again) with no problems.
At 5000rpm I changed up again smoothly to fifth gear (yes I have a 5 speed gerbox)
Then finally at 6000rpm I slammed in into "R" (which I assume means Racing gear) and that's when it went BANG!
Do you think I used the wrong oil?

Well the engine (and car) more than survived. I had a blast. So I'm pretty sure that I'll be at the plough.

Excellent news.

Been staring out the window all morning wishing I could go for a hoon, but my car's not back yet. In fact, more worryingly, the estimate isn't even back yet. Just hope it arrives back in time for the meet - the car that is.

I heard someone with a properly loud V8 go past a second ago. Lucky git. irked

I keep looking out and wishing the same, but getting over a damn cold, so just staying in and listening to lots of music. don't wanna go out and hoon around when i'm not completely with it incase something happens and I don't react quick enough! Anoying as it looks like a glorious day out today.

Me too, keep looking out, gutted that I can't enjoy this wonderful hooning weather. My car will be ready on Tuesday hopefully, so expect three motnhs of heavy rain from then on.

I'm living in Ealing at the minute so Enfield way isn't too far from me. Haven't been to a PH meet yet so might think about putting my name down

I live in Clapham, and would not mind making the journey for the meet. Keep me updated, is there a list of whos def going so far?

I think the closest thing we've got to that is the list above (see Graeme's post). It's sure to grow as the time approaches, plus, in the past we've had quite a few unexpected arrivals. The last but one meet saw everything from a dragster to a Ford GT!
