Yes that's correct.
A40 is outside(exempt) the CZ and any left towards St,John's Wood, Lords, Regents Park or Hampstead Road will get you there.
My favourite route is left just after the Park through Albany Street then down Parkway.
But whichever way you go will be heavy traffic though.
