Evening all,

I'm travelling from the Midlands and can take M1 or M40 South. TomTom puts me on the M1, M25, over the bridge then hook a right. Seems reasonable. I'm just concious of local traffic near Dartford for Thurrock and Bluewater. Would I be better of going round the bottom on Saturday?

Cheers.

Sadly it's random. The Thurrock and Bluewater traffic won't be much of an issue. The dullard who's stuffed his shopping trolling into the central reservation will be....but he might do that anywhere... Just listen to traffic reports and be prepared to go either way as you near the M25.

Given a clear run I'd M1 / M25 / bridge, but mostly because I travel that side a lot.

If you are close to the M40 I'd do M40, M25 (anti clockwise), A21 straight to the heart of Bromley.

I always use this route to Tamworth.

Going under London on a Saturday will be clearer than going all the way over the top.

It depends which bit of the Midlands you're coming from. Given the choice I would always use the M40 rather than the M1 (my personal most hated road in the world) as the bit either side of Luton always seems terribly jammed with roadworks which seem to have been ongoing for decades.
Others may well dissagree.
