Blackwall Tunnel speed limits

Going north, sat in the usual queue this morning and saw the usual sign saying that the "safety" cameras were only being tested and then I noticed a small sign at the beginning of the two way flow which uses the southbound bore and what did it say

VARIABLE SPEED LIMIT STARTS HERE

They are sticking new stuff up on the gantries too.

FFS its already 30mph through there but it would seem they're going to make it slower and probably enforce it with the cameras.
Or are they going to up speed the limit to something sensible and bring it down to 30mph at peak time - joke ho ho ho.

I think northbound will be no more than 30mph, southbound 30 to 40 ... Pictures in the Kent section ..

Is this actually live now then? The signs have been up for a while, but just for "traffic monitoring"

as of last weekend as it was still in testing

although the whole thing is a waste of money. the only time you are going to get more than 30mph average through there is 3 in the morning. in which case why the hell not.
