Well, after arsing about for ages I've finally gotten myself some new wheels. A modest Celica vvtli T-sport from 2003 - no porker I'll grant you, but I am only 24 and paying a terrorist's ransom in rent to live in Battersea, and the Celica is actually proving to be entertaining...if I could only get out of London at the weekend without sitting in traffic, or going 70miles out into the wilderness (Northamptonshire) to find some decent roads.

So, could anyone living around W / SW London suggest a decent early Sunday morning blat?

I thought about posting in the "roads" section, but it's pretty London specific..and I don't feel comfortable with the idea of posting in an internet forum section about roads

I'd suggest heading out onto the A3 (via Wandsworth) and get yourself south over the M25. Take any of the exits off the A3 after that and enjoy a little of the Surrey countryside. It's what I do when I fancy a blat from Putney

early on a sat morning, head south down the A3 and come off at the milford slip road after guilford, follow the road to petworth then cut through to goodwood, watch the cars at the circuit for a bit (you can get an events list to see whats on) then drive back via midhurst/fernhurst (TVR Garage)/Haslemere and back onto the A3.

If you are tempted by the Goodwood Run, take a look at www.goodwood.co.uk/breakfastclub
I'm not sure whether this is open to the public or just Club members, so an email might be in order, but it would give a reason for getting up early.

Me to great roads of the A3, if you happen to find your self at a roundabout (about 40 miles) swing a right for the best A roads and nice pubs too (for lunch).

Thanks, but I never break the speed limit, therefore this would not apply to me.

As something of a follow-up to this admittedly rather tedious thread, I thought I'd mention that the above recommendation really is a very good idea. Especially in the recent nice weather.. in fact, most of the A roads off the A3 from the Guildford area seem to lead to some very enjoyable motoring...and my sincere apologies must go to the local residents of said area
