We are planning to move down to London (from the East Midlands), and with relatives in Hounslow am considering the western side.
We like Osterly & parts of Isleworth, but they are a bit on the expensive side. Also looked near Chertsey (friend in that area), but I need more ideas.
Looking for min 4 bed period property, with a decent garden and decent reception size(s). Don't need to be too close to train/underground, as I can bike to the station. budget is up to 450K, but I would like it to be less. Needs to be a reasonable area, with decent schools (Primary at the moment).
Would consider furhter out, so long as it is no more than 75 minutes into the City by train.

All suggestions welcome.

TIA

If you want more of a rural location then suggest you look around the Marlow, Frieth, Cadmore End, Lane End, Hambledon Valley, Henley areas.

If you get out of Marlow you'll get quite a bit for your money!!

Relatively good connections to London by rail (maidenhead to Paddington or High Wycombe to Marylebone) and really good connections to M4, M40 & M25.

Choose your location well and you could be overlooking some great Chilterns countryside and still only 10 minutes to Marlow for shops, Bars and Restaurants!!

Thanks, I'll take a look.

Most houses further out seem to be new(er) built, which is not an option. Very few period properties with decent room size seem to be available (currently have 2 large receptions + study & large kitchen diner).

May have to start talking to agents, and trying to pick out the ones to believe

Personally, I like the Kingston area which isn't that far from your relatives.

Yep Kingston is also a possibility. It is similar to everywhere that I like, in that there aren't many properties that fit the requirement. I have already compromised on several things, so now on a bare minimum.
Richmond, Ham, Twickenham, Hamersmith are other places I would like to live, but need a lottery win to get close to what we want.
I'll have a look around, although I need to find out what areas are good, and what 'not-so-good'.

Thanks

Princes Risborough and that area are on Chiltern Railways line to Marylebone and the prices are not too bad for the Bucks area. Oh, and Chequers is nearby so you have 'special' neighbours at weekends!
