Living near Canary Wharf
Discussion
Hi all you sophisticated London types,
I will hopefully be starting a job in Canary Wharf sometime in early 2006 and have been looking at places to live nearby or within easy reach. After some research I thought that Bermondsey might be a good bet. It's easy to reach canary wharf and central london on the jubilee line. I have looked at deptford too but thought that it might be harder to reach central parts from there. What do you think? I'll initally be renting and reckon I'll be able to afford about £700pcm max, which seems reasonable from some flatshare websites I've seen.
Any feedback at all would be greatly appreciated thanks.

right, so deptford is no then. I like to be somewhere I can go out for a beer in the evening and I don't fancy my chances of an impeccable Neo impression. What about Bow, is that better?

If you want convenience for canary wharf and would like to avoid being shot or mugged by the locals may I suggest millenium quay on the deptford/greenwich border, 5 minutes walk from cutty sark (greenwich town centre) DLR station and a very nice private development..there's a few rooms being advertised in the corner shop there for £500 per month I believe

oh and you get awesome views of where you'll be working!

Thanks for all of this guys. It's been lots of help. Did a quick search on Narrow Street. £3000 a week!! Wow!! I'm down either later this week or early next week for the second interview so I'll get a copy of the free paper and go and have a scout around. That development sounds perfect minimax, I'll look into that too.

Welcome. Greenwich is great. Not there but hang out in the area from time to time.

Hi again,
I settled on somewhere in Greenwich in the end, with a little bit of a nudge from a mate. I found the place in The Wharf so thanks again for that gem. Looking forward to my new job and shedding just a small tear at the thought of never seeing daytime tv again.

Greenwich is a nice place. You still doing any racing?
