Anyone watched the barrier in operation?
I fancy seeing it when I plan my next London trip. Seems they test the barrier once a month where they lift the barrier to full height according to this website

It's probably not worth it unless you're in the area and especially keen - viewing spots are reasonably far away - especially due to the angle needed to see it.

When they switch the barriers to over height, quite often the gulls know there's lots of fish around and will flock:
