The Poison Dwarf is extending the ULEZ beyond the North Circular road next year
Well they say they are looking at the feasabiliy of it, well cameras are going up already so it is going ahead
I dont know how far it is going to be extended
I guess it will at some point be the whole of everything inside the M25
I dont know if you live inside the ULEZ can you still drive around and its not until you leave and re-enter the zone you get charged
There are maps of the safety cameras, but no maps of the ULEZ cameras (as if they are ever going to release a map of thoose cameras)
They are just to make money nothing else, there is no incentive for anyone to change cars or even use London Transport
I am not even sure what vehicles are allowed on the roads any more or where they can go
I know you can go on the NCR, but if you go outside it, BANG, you get a £12.50 charge, but it depends which way you leave I guess
I find it really hard to believe that he got back into power, he said he was going to extend the ULEZ and people still voted him back in (I guess all the drivers on the M40, A40, M4, M1, M3 and other motorways leading into London dont have a vote

That's one of the stated aims, yes. But the the Mayor of London is the mayor of the whole of London, not just the central part and those of us who live around the outer circular have pointed out that expaning the ULEZ to the outer circle has lead to an increase in non-compliant/more polluting traffic on the outer circle and so an increase in pollution in those parts of London. Which isn't exactly fair.Imaplumber said:

It's driving IN, not INTO the zone that is chargable and as such there are cameras all over the zone, not just on its borders so in general no, you can't drive a non-compliant/exempt vehicle inside the zone for free (though you will find odd, random journeys you can make while not passing a camera).Imaplumber said:

Have you tried using the Internet? Permitted and exempt vehicle classes are really quite well and clearly documented online. For example https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra-low-emissio... and https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra-low-emissio...Imaplumber said:

He got in in much the same way Boris got a huge majority at the last general election. While Boris got a huge ABC (Anyone But Corbin) vote Khan was up against Shaun Bailey. You know, Shaun Bailey? Or did I just make that name up and the Conservative candidate was actually someone else...?Imaplumber said:

Jumping on the PH pedant train a sec, the money is the incentive. So there is a clear incentive to change the car or not use it. Believe it or not the majority likely are ok with the idea of lower local pollution levels. In the same way that people in NP&E like to bang on about net zero etc. Fact is it is a popular policy and people have to accept that in a democracy this is how it works. Times move on, things progress.
I’ve said this many times but I have little sympathy with the “war on the motorist” as you can dip into numerous threads a day here and see total intolerance of something or other, often things not directly impacting the people complaining. Fact is petrol heads are a minority and if they aren’t going to tolerate different interests and views themselves why should the general population tolerate and make concessions for theirs.
I can remember when the congestion charge was first touted out
The money was to be used for making bus and train travel cheaper, it was a great idea and London Transport was in favour of it and had the hard ware (buses and underground trains) to cope with the influx of new passengers
I dont know what happened, but fares were never reduced and the money was used to fund various charities and various other things (one was the Single Muslim Mothers of Mercy, I dont know what happened to them, but they are gone now)
They were getting more money than they knew what to spend it on
This ULEZ charge isnt doing anything to reduce pollution, traffic is slower, queues are longer (most days the traffic is back to Denham on the M40 and A40, I dont think its any better on the M4
I dont know what the poison dwarf is doing with the money, but its an awful lot he is getting each day
Air isnt a bubble over London, there is wind, rain so the air changes, so does pollution I assume
