Can anyone suggest one please? I am going down in a few weeks and want a good quality cut and beard trim.

It's been a while since I've been but from the early 90s until 5 years or so ago I went to Trumpers on Curzon Street every few months.

Service was always good - I don't have a beard so it was always a full shave for me.

I have pretty basic requirements (old school short back and sides and a trim on top)

Technically not Mayfair, but a few yards away across the road at St James is Truefitt and Hill:

Thanks chaps. I had heard of Trumpers, but didn't know if they were any good.

Plus 1 for here always a lovely experience plus if the weather is good you can have a drink in the Stafford's courtyard afterwards.

I went to Truefitt and Hill, actually.

I got a very good haircut.

If I am being picky, the basin was not properly washed down between customers and there was grunge around the taps. However, the cut was very expertly executed and the barber gave me some good advice.

I was offered a choice of mint or citrus scalp oil, chose the mint and thought it was pointless. But then suddenly I had a pleasantly tingly scalp for the afternoon.

The cost was £50, which is plenty for a gent's haircut. But all in all a good experience.

Thanks for your suggestions All.
