I've just received a PCN for driving on the A40 last month, so part of the LEZ

BUT it's for a petrol/hybrid car.

Surely a mistake, or is it?

There's different "levels" ,the ULEZ hasn't commenced yet but a LEZ has been going for a little while.

There's links on the TFL site about paying your LEZ charge or paying for a PCN if you've not paid for your drive in the LEZ.

As for the OP ,is there a phone number to tell them of their mistake ?

LEZ is just for trucks etc. Isn't it?

I've tried the phone number, it took several attempts to find someone that tried to help, but it's an example of the "computer says no" so they couldn't explain why a petrol hybrid should get a fine. I thought the LEZ was for diesel lorries and similar?

Maybe your plate has been misread and is similar to a non complying truck ?

Just found the vehicle ckecker link on the tfl website. My plate is OK for the new ULEZ but fails on the LEZ! So I've got an ultra low emitting vehicle that fails LEZ?

I'm thinking a mistake on the database?

An identical vehicle (plate found on a car for sale on Autotrader) comes up as OK, so my vehicle should be OK?

What a strange situation! Follow the appeals forms on the TfL website. They take a couple of weeks to process an appeal but they've always been pretty good in my experience.

Strange indeed!
Filled in the appeal on Wednesday, so check back in a couple of weeks for the result.
