I'm going to be working in Twickenham for a couple of days in a few weeks time and have found a gig to go to in Barnes.
I'm sure London is like most places with nice places and not so nice places, is Barnes one of the places I can walk to/from the train station up to where all the shops are (Olympic studios to be precise)? Or I should I play it safe and take a cab?

I was going to use the “ Not sure if serious “ pic

You can walk around anywhere in London and you’ll have no issues at all.

It’s an incredibly safe city.

As for Barnes specifically, unless a yummy mummy decides to go nuts by the duck pond you’ll be fine.

You can get mugged anywhere be it Barnes or Bournemouth. Some roads around that way can be quiet but usually are well lit. So you will be travelling from Twickenham to Barnes station for the evening? Or Barnes Bridge station? The Bridge station is in a busier area and a much easier walk than from Barnes which is in a quieter area and further away.

I think unfortunately anyone not familiar with London will watch the news and see it portrayed as a place where death and destruction awaits you on every street corner. I have spent a fair bit of the last 20 years living in SW London and still here to tell the tale. For the record, I have never been stabbed laugh

Barnes is about as safe as London gets, just don't get pi$$ed and fall in the river.
