Hi,

My little nephew is arriving from Canada week after next and high on his list of things to do is go car spotting in London (he's been watching the crazy YouTube vids etc and is very excited about the prospect).

The small issue we have is out of the available days where we are both free are either Wednesday or Thursday - I assume the supercars come out to play/show off on weekends? . Another factor is that the Arabs probably haven't arrived yet? Even though Ramadam is much earlier this year so there's a small possibility some will be here.

Is either day out of the two better? Any tips? I'm thinking of Mayfair and hitting all the main hotels, Mount St, Sloane St, Harrods ... any of other places?

Thanks!

Maybe chuck in a visit to a supercar showroom or two as well. If you're lucky you may be able to get a photo or two of him sitting in a nice car. I'm not London based so others will be able to offer better advice. Perhaps post in your local area section of PH and see if there's anyone local to you who could take him for a spin in something nice in exchange for some beer tokens.
Nice to hear that young lads are still interested in big noisy cars. A friend with an M5 recently got criticised by his niece because his car is too noisy and kills wildlife! laugh

Will he still be in the country for Supercar Sunday at Goodwood on May 7th?

Last March a whole array of gold cars were shipped over to London, and I believe there is/was a Centenario doing the rounds a few weeks back. As such, I reckon you're bound to see a few super cars knocking about! As others have said, there are plenty of super car showrooms in the vicinity too ...

I saw a multitude of Rari's outside Harrods. One being the gold plated FI IRAK 458 Spider. Might be a good place to start.

There is always something around. Anywhere on the Harrods grand prix circuit in West London is good.

As someone who spends a lot of time in C London, I would say the best place is to wait at the east end of Mount St, Mayfair, just by the Porsche dealership. Hardly a minute seems to pass without some kind of exotica passing by. Ferraris, Lambos, Porsches etc. Non stop flow.

Just wander, even if the Arabs aren't out in force you'll still see some nice metal. Dorchester/Park Lane is always good and the down the Brompton Road/Sloane Street area and of course Harrods

All of the above as mentioned, also if you started from the top end of Park Lane by Marble Arch and walked all the way down you'd pass dealers for Brabus, (I think) Aston Martin, BMW, lots of M normally and Mini.
You would also pass the nice hotels on the way including the Dorchester that normally has something nice parked outside, you could also once at the bottom of Park Lane, (turn right so to speak) head West on the A4 and a few hundred yards down just by the junction of Wilton Place you have H.R.Owen Ferrari and not too far further along on the A4 on the right hand side just after Sloane Street you have McLaren.

Not sure what the dealers are like if you want to mooch in as I normally just sit outside but sure if you explain they will all hopefully be pretty friendly?

Harrods a bit further along the A4 after McLaren and if you turn left at the far end of Harrods into Hans road, walk to the bottom where the Harrods pavement cafe thingy is and quite often you'll find a Veyron on the corner. May still be a bit early in the year but I have seen a few of the Arab plated cars knocking about.

All of the places already mentioned above normally have some nice metal knocking around.

Forgot to say as above, the area around Mount Street for Porsche is always pretty good, plus Jack Barclay round the corner on Berkeley Square, and I think J.D.Classics are near by?

Fair bit of ground to cover smile

Thanks for advice.

Haha yeah, he's very interested, I think we take a lot of this for granted. I only realise how much of a supercar/hypercar scene we have in London and a lot of the big cities whenever I have relatives over from US/Canada and they talk about how coming across a F430 or DB9 is a big thing in their towns and they're in disbelief with the number of Aventadors/458s/Rolls Royces etc that are here.

I'm probably more excited about this day out than he is. I'm only an hour and a half away from London and all these years, especially at the peak of the whole Arab Hypercar summers I've never bothered to come. While I'm not a fan of the whole running around cars with a camera, just to experience such an incredible hypercars all concentrated in one place in 'the wild' would have been pretty awesome. I think that ships sailed now? With the heavy police crack down etc.

Unfortunately I cannot multi-quote - but thanks to everyone who's responded and the advice.
