Places to eat on South Bank
Discussion
Hi All
We're visiting the South Bank imminently and will have some children with us. They are fine in restaurants and know how to behave. We're looking for some decent places but we're not looking for fine dining.
To give you some idea what we like - we'll happily eat at Belgo, most Italians, fish and chip restaurants or grill / barbeque type places.
The PH massive is usually excellent when it comes to recommendations - any for South Bank please?

Southbank restaurants can be very busy, I've eaten at one of the Terence Conran places near HMS Belfast some time ago and it was okay but not memorable.
Depending on where on the Southbank you are I'd recommend Giuseppes on Borough High Street circa a couple of hundred yards from the river and opposite Borough Market. An oasis of calm amongst the tourists, straight forward Italian food reasonably priced.

I work on Southbank and would recommend:
Azzuro - reasonably priced Italian in railway arches opposite the main station entrance;
The Arch Duke, railway Arch on Belvedere Road, nice but maybe not the best for Children;
Las Iguanas - reasonable prices and right on the river - may be busy, good mexican;
Canteen - british food, basic, inside the bottom of the Royal Festival Hall.

Okay, ao we went to Giuseppe's. Eventually. The first night we booked online, but when we showed up they were closed...but we cut them some slack but because they are Italian.Depending on where on the Southbank you are I'd recommend Giuseppes on Borough High Street circa a couple of hundred yards from the river and opposite Borough Market. Second time lucky and we had probably the best restaurant experience in recent memory. Great food, excellent live music and superb service. We will definitely go again.

Glad you enjoyed it, I forgot to mention the opera singing. Did she start getting lecherous? Second time lucky and we had probably the best restaurant experience in recent memory. Great food, excellent live music and superb service. We will definitely go again.

If the weather is nice, I'd always recommend people to go for a Bleecker St burger, they have a shipping container on South Bank with benches outside. However they do cook the burgers medium rare, I don't know if your kids would mind?
Best burger in London!
It's not there any more, it was a temp arrangement last summer. Best burger in London!
