Good areas for bars and clubs-Xmas night out.....

Hi guys and girls.
We have an Xmas works night out on Friday and will be based around Oxford St for our hotel but then off out and about during the day for lunch in Covent Garden and then ice skating at Somerset House later in the day. The bit that we are lacking is suggestions/plans for the evening.

So, which part of 'town' should we be heading to for some good bars and clubs thats easy enough to get back to Oxford St area.

What sort of vibe are you wanting? A few more steady drinks in a nice place or push on for dawn, dancing music??

Some options might be:

Covent Garden - walking distance from somerset house and easy back to ox circ. Very touristy in many areas but there are nicer places especially south side.
Soho - walking distance to oxford circ. Classier places (hotel bars for example) and plenty of dives
Shoreditch - central line from liverpool st back to ox circ. Variety of places. Generally its very busy these days and rapidly turning into Leicester Sq mk2
Mayfair - again walking back. Higher class restaurant/hotel bars. EG Dukes, Dover St.

Whichever of those areas though, I'd do some desk research first and have a few options of places to aim for. There are of course multiple places to go in each but they vary wildly.

Depends on your budget and preferences, but have a search around at bars in the City near Bank station. Only 4 stops on the Central Line back to Oxford Circus from there.
