Hi,

I'm Looking for a jet wash, preferably around Stratford/Bow area, but I'm willing to travel for one that's a bit quieter.

I have no outside water or electricity supply, but want to go and wash my new car myself redface

Any suggestions?

Any petrol stations near by? They may have one.

I find when the jet wash machines, or the auto wash machines break down, they don't get repaired.

What seems to happen is the immigrants rent the space off the garage, and set up their own hand car wash for 3.50.

Plenty, I'm sure, but none of the ones I regularly use.

I know of one, but it's incredibly busy and the only one on site - not ideal when you want to hog it for half hour.

Shell garages often have them. Any near by?

It's a bit of a drive but I use the one at Tesco Extra in Rainham. About 30 minutes down the A13 for you.

There's only one space but it's normally empty and I take my time there.

Hi all,
I moved in London recently, moving from Paris.
In France you find self jet wash literally at every corner of every commercial center, it does not to be the case in London.
How do people do if they want to clean their car themselves?
I did not find any spot yet to clean the car myself...
I live in Wapping and I just do not know where to go...
Thanks guys, any suggestion welcome !
Cheers

There's one at the Sainsbury's petrol station in Beckton that's usually quiet.

Welcome to London!

Closest to Wapping, or at least easiest to get to, is probably the big Tesco down at Surrey Quays (just watch your wheels on the width restriction barriers on the Rotherhithe tunnel) which I think still has a jet wash.

Otherwise there's a hand car wash place at the Texaco on Cotton Street as you drive towards the A12 which always looks reasonable - I've never tried it myself though.

Or befriend someone local who has an underground car park. Both my flats in Wapping had car wash areas in the car parks with a tap and plenty of space, which was great. Alas, I've just moved out of the area or you could have used mine!

Hi there - do you know any self service jet wash in south London?

I am looking for a service like this one offered at some Tesco:

Any advise?

As mentioned in the post above, Tesco at Surray Quays has one. There's also a Shell with one in Bermondsey on Southwark Park Road.

The Shell on Evelyn Street has one... it's about £4 for the mid wash which is quite pricey.

I never realised the Surrey Quays Tesco had one though!

A tip (if you value your paintwork): only use the foam brush on the lower part of your car + glass + wheels. It never gets cleaned and could cause very bad scratches. Once I've quickly gone round the bottom of the car with the brush I hover it over the car so that the soapy water splashes all over the paintwork, then quickly go over the car with my own wash mitt that I bring along.

Hi everyone

Sorry to resurrect this thread - but I'm looking for the same thing and struggling a bit. Every garage I stop at seems to have nothing!

I was desperate enough to take my car to "American Car wash", an outfit that employs people to hand wash your car. They offered a truly horrible service, the largest seagull st I've ever seen was not addressed even by their "valet service". Just shy of 30 quid down the drain, does anyone know of a self service jet wash still operating in east london that will allow me to lavish a little bit of TLC on my car? frown

I'm in EC1 but more than willing to travel a bit.

Cheers!

There is a Shell by the Bow Old Ford A12 junction that has a jetwash. Its a single bay. I have used it a few times and have also found it busy many times with people drying polishing etc and occupying the bay for hours...

But its an option.
