I Have seen some really nice high rise modern looking apartments in Battersea with river views, terraces etc - they are on the river and between Wandsworth & Battersea bridges - very modern looking non LA blocks. Question is, there doesn't seem to be any way of leaving the immediate vicinity of the blocks, without walking through the Winstanton Estate or any pretty ropey looking / industrial roads. Is this why these luxury flats are in my price range? Or is the area actually fine?

Live in Battersea and know it well, winstanley isnt that bad the section you will be passing through, I wouldn't worry, they look a bit ropey but just see how much they cost !!!! The scummers and bad guys cant afford them to be frank.

I live on Ethelburga near battersea bridge and although the area looks a bit ropey its 90% leasehold or privately owned...but buy now as the property prices in battersea are some of the fastest rising in london at the min.

I live on the river between Wandsworth and Battersea bridges.

It's a 10 minute walk to Clapham Junction, either through or around Winstanley, and I've never felt it to be unsafe. And it's a 5 min walk to Wandsworth Town. There are loads of buses up and down York Road. And they're just installing Boris Bike stations at the end of our road.

There's no nearby tube service, which might explain the relative value of the flats, but I can't say I miss it.

And it's great being next to the river - you get a real sense of space, which is difficult to find in London.
