Guys,

I have no idea where to live in London. I only know a little bit around Islington. I'd prefer to stay in North London, but tbh it is not that important.

I am looking for an idea of where is decent and safe to be for a non-local like myself.

Cheers.

How much do you wish to spend per month and or prefer to live alone or in a flat/houseshare??

And to where do you have to get to work ? Islington isn't much use if you work at Heathrow (for example)

Looking at house shares as I can't afford my own place yet.
Looking to spend £500-£550 which I know won't get me anything brilliant.

I work on London Wall.

Possibly looking a place in Muswell Hill soon.

Hi Angry Dog,

Muswell hill is leafy, green, ultra middle class and very expensive. You probably will get a house share there in your budget but it probably won't be near fast transport links into the city. Nor will it be in the nicest bits!

Have a look at East Finchley which is decent, safe, has a good high street and pubs ( if that's important) and is directly on the northern line into the city. And you'll get more for your money than muswell hill.

Good luck!

Cheers Toney.
Took the flat share in Muswell Hill though.
It's got a direct bus route which takes a while but I can't use the Tube anyway so it's no major shakes.
Only need to do it 3 days a week. £2.80 a day travel helps as well.

Excellent. Muswell Hill is a lovely place. Lots of great spaces to escape London's hectic pace too. Take a walk from the broadway along park walk into highgate woods and onto highgate village - you'd never know you were in London!

I've lived in MH for quite a while so feel free to PM me if you want any local info. Cheers!

Cheers mate.

Im not sure which part of MH it is, but it seems quiet enough and nice enough. Not too far from the bus station / round about thing.

Cheers mate, may do that. Fancy a pint some time?
