Grandmas 70 birthday trip to the smoke
Discussion
We'll be coming over from Norway for Grandmas 70th Birthday, she's not been to England before.
Any recommendations for a nice place to eat out would be more than welcome, we're staying Oxford Street / Park Lane. A family kind of place would be ideal, we'll be aged 3 - 70.
Apart from the usual tourist stuff, any other recommendations where you'd take a fit as a fiddle 70 year old ? She's into knitting / handy crafts and that type of thing if there's a market or something that deals with that kind of thing ?

Well not from where you're staying is Liberty's http://www.liberty.co.uk/fcp/content/about-liberty... which has an Arts and Crafts department, including some beautiful fabrics. It's worth the visit just to see the building itself.
Theres the Gray's Antique market off Oxford Street. You could try the Ivy restaurant - not too far away - often families in there and the occasional celeb'- unassuming straightforward menu. Harrods department store has several restaurants as does Fortnum and Mason in Piccadilly - Self ridges too. There's also the Wolseley in Piccadilly too. Caprice just around the corner. Ritz may be too 'stuffy'. Depends on what time of day or night you wish to eat.
As your grandmother is into knitting, she might appreciate visiting the Fashion and Textile Museum, particularly as it has a Kaffe Fasset exhibition on until the 29th June http://woolmen.com/forthcoming-kaffe-fasset-exhibi... As belleair suggested, the V&A is also worth a visit too.
