Hello everyone.

Been living and working in London for a while now, and being a motoring enthusiast Im looking to acquire myself a fun car for weekends and road trips later this year.

Trouble is, I already have a (very bland) company car, and so I am going to need another parking permit, or off street parking in Islington for an additional car.

Islington council dont allow 2nd permits, so am I doomed to pay £100 pcm for a parking space? or is there another option here I am missing?

Garage, either council or private rental. Will probably be more than £100 pcm there though.

Sadly it sounds like you're going to have to rent, try speaking to colleagues- have any of them got a parking space they don't use? I looked to borrow a space from a non driving friend but the sod has decided to move.

Unfortunately none of my work colleagues live in Central London (they are mostly based in Essex).

What I'm considering is perhaps registering the car in my partners name (we live together), and them naming myself as the main driver on the insurance policy. Not sure what that would do to the premiums though.

I could then get the parking permit in her name.

In RBKC and in other boroughs I know they do not allow a second parking permit. What I can say is that if there was another person in the house say wife, girlfriend a second parking permit is possible. The condition is that the title of the vehicle must be in their name and that includes the insurance.

Also say you had a house in Westminster and one in RBKC, you are not allowed one for each as they go by primary residence.

Greenwich allows two at the same address if the other permit is under someone else's name for either insurance or the registration document itself. But, by Christ, you'll get evil looks from the people at the council. When they then found out what I drove...well...
