I live in Harrow and currently doing my a levels. I am looking for a Saturday job with a garage around London who are willing to teach.

I have a bit of knowledge about cars, having done a two month work experience with a garage before but they are no longer taking students on due to lack of business. Last summer I also did a bit of engine work on a dead 306 that was on my driveway. Changed the head gasket, starter motor, inlet manifold and got it running.

my plan is to go to university so i'm not looking for an apprenticeship, just a Saturday job..Well i say job but i'll pay to work, if someone is willing to teach me.

thanks in advance

Good on you.

Advice: Don't pay to work. Don't give your labour away for free, whatever stage you are at. Approach local garages directly - walk in and ask. Most aren't very online/tech savvy. Look at your favourite makes here, the recommended local indys, approach them?

You shouldn't expect a massive hourly rate obviously but don't work for free - when you get something work very hard and learn fast. They'll be happy to pay you then.

HR owen sports cars in st albans would be nice!

Edited to add: im in harrow/stanmore and if i was in the same position as you i would approach a place like above just to spend a day or two seeing how they work, how their programmes of work are implemented and really just to stroke the shiny things!

It would give you something to aspire to away from the grimey world of the backstreet garage who will jump at the chance to have someone eager who will work for nothing.
