Quite how bad is it there and in surrounding streets? Would be arriving around 7pm.

The roads to the west tend to be easier than the roads to the east. There's often a space on Hill Street.

If you are 'sharp' getting in to the area just before the parking restrictions come off - then sit on a yellow line/drive around for a short while whilst waiting and park for free?

That may or may not be true of the residents bays, but the pay-to-park bays become free in the evening.

I frequently park further east off The Strand - admittedly later than that just when the theatre's are chucking out and there is always somewhere to park foc
