Hi

Not sure where this should go, so I'll pop it in the lounge for now.

So I will be working at a new location in January. (East Acton / White City)

I am looking into driving down from East London (so A406?)

My main issue now is looking into parking before I will have to admit defeat and resort to the Tube and an hour commute.

What do you guys think and where is the best place to search?

Thanks!

You reckon a car's going to be quicker? yikes

Or better? If there was a train that went from my house to my office and didn't cost £20 a day I'd be jumping for joy.

I think you'd have to be very lucky with traffic, or working unusual hours for a commute from east to west London to be quicker via the A406 than the tube.

Unless there's an overriding reason for you to drive, you'd be better off on the tube.

Will trial it one day and see how I go, but the hour's will be slightly different from the 9-5 so it MAY be possible.

Just looking into parking, first month I will grin and bare the Tube then I will try out the drive and see how that goes. And just see from there!

Where in East? Can't see it being too viable, I used to do Mile End to Basingstoke (near enough, anyway) everyday and it was always public transport. Acton/White City is a right bd at rush hour, especially since Westfield.

Right by the A406 at Chingford. Issue is depending on hours / traffic it may not be possible,

The other thing I'm also looking into is moving a little closer to West London, so looking at places currently around Putney, Hammersmith, Acton, Ealing Broadway etc... Will prob sell the car in that case however as I don't think it can be used much around that side of town with parking restrictions etc.

Depends exactly where in East Acton you mean, but I used to work there and parking on Telford Way was free (nb: it was six years ago so may have changed)

If you have to be at work at anytime between 7-7 than choo choo is the best way to do it, and I am someone who will avoid public transport at all costs.

There is Acton Central and Acton Town though, which together make Acton Stations.

I used to drive from Wandsworth to White City in the rush hour and would have to allow 1.5 hours. That is a distance a little under 6 miles.

I tried my motorbike quite a bit but around 830am the route would be gridlocked and I found I was actually faster on a bicycle.
