I drove through the rotherithe tunnel on Tuesday night probably just after midnight. I was aware that the speed limit was 20mph as I saw the signs, but just follwed someone through at a handfull of mph more. Not quick though. No other traffic through the tunnel, not that it makes a difference. Anwyay, in the daylight I drove through it the next day and noticed the big yellow SPECS - do they inforce the 20 limit then? I saw no speed camera signs at all, but I'm aware that is no defence.

Am I getting a ticket coming through the post?

Yeah, can't believe I missed the signs even in the daylight!

My excuse was it was late, I was lost, and I'd been driving for four hours therefore missed the massive yellow cameras and signs hehe I've never seen a camera in a 20 zone, until now!

You never know, calculating for speedo error and changes in speed I don't think my average speed would have been above 25mph, and hopefully more like 22.

Ah well, wait and see I guess. Does london do speed awareness courses? (I've not been caught speeding anywhere before frown)

I got flashed by them about 6 or 7 years ago on one of the first Tunnel Runs (wasn't caning it, just trying to make sure I got the right exit). I was told they were digital and I would get a fine, but I never got a ticket...

The cameras there are average ones I think, not flashy ones.

They've been replaced with SPECS mate, unfortunately.

Ah, right. It was a while back! I think the Blackwall has SPECS in now as well, I see people doing more than 30 through there all the time. Try and forget about it and just see what happens. If you were doing an indicated 25 I reckon you'll be fine.

It was probably closer to an indicated 30 unfortunatly - I'll still keep my fingers crossed though

I wouldn't worry too much unless you were a lot over 25mph for all the way.

I go through there every morning at 4am sometimes at speeds of up to 50ish, I've not been done.............yet although I'm not convinced they work.

haven't been through in about 6 months since changing jobs.... are you guys referring to the yellow ones just before the entry and exit into the tunnel?

I was always under the impression these are average speed check AND current speed cameras (due to markings on the road)

I don't think it's possible for SPECS to do both; maybe it's because the marks are there from when they used to have the standard cameras?

Nothing in the post yet...

Well it's been 16 days now and no ticket through the post, so I think I'm in the clear!

Dunno if they weren't on or if my actual average speed was below the threshold, either way I'm happy.

No Specs in the rotherhithe.
Slapped through one night at 60/70/80MPH in a 911.
Roof open.
Nothing.

Forget it.
