Having spent most of my weekend stationary on the M25 and the M3 I'm wondering whether venturing into central London might be more trouble than it's worth for the next few weeks. How are people finding the tube lines outside of the immediate area of the games?

Dunno. Came in on my bike this morning.

It was very quiet...

Everyone in my office (10 of us) got in without issue. 8 of them use the tube from Stratford way.

Cool. Sounds like it won't be a problem.

Didn't realise you worked in London, Doug? That must be a hell of a cycle ride from your neck of the woods. I dragged my bike out this morning too, but traffic never seems to be a huge problem around Enfield/Barnet.

I drive into the city from Balham every day and it's fantastic, roads are empty!

Broke my record for the journey time home yesterday (left at 5:15), can we get the Olympics again??

Monday could be a different scenario entirely. The athletics start over the weekend, so more people will be heading to Stratford - the tube may well become busier.

I live in Maida Vale, so not too far at all - only really enough to get warmed up!

Its only the car that lives up in Hertfordshire now - until I can afford a garage in central London - but I suspect all the petrol will ave run out by then and we'll be teleporting eveywhere...

Quite a lot of traffic on the Javelin this morning at 7. Perhaps it will be a preferred route to the tube?

Near Warwick Avenue for me, and as i got to the tube, i noticed everyone leaving...i looked on TFL and it said slight delays...station was closed! not sure on the correlation between delays and complete closure...

Anyway first problem so far...bus was lovely though!

Jubilee line between Nw2 and Westminster was very quiet on Monday and yesterday.

Cycling from NW2 to Southbank was very quiet too on Wednesday and Thursday

The Olympic powers have scared everyone off.

Getting onto the A40 to go West in a car, however, is a massive ballache.

Car bad/tubes and bikes good.

Been doing Finsbury Park to South Kensington this week and it's been fine. Usually get a seat at what would be peak times (8:15-8:30ish in the morning, 5:30ish in the evening). Cycled it on Monday and that was OK too.

Oh really? Bugger.

I've got to head out that way tonight at 8.30pm-ish.

What's the problem with it?

Belated answer; I usually join from the north of the A40 at Park Royal. They've changed the phasing of the lights to reduce the reds on the A40 and the effect is to cause a big tailback at the Park Royal junction.

Wifey went via North Circular on Friday and that seemed OK.
