Hi all,

My brother, Paul has been unemployed for a few months now due to the lack of cameraman jobs in Scotland.
He's had to take a job in Central London for less money than he was on in Scotland.

I'm asking on his behalf if anyone knows of any accomodation which will become available in the next month or so.
He has no idea of the City so no idea where he will settle. He's really just after a room to rent for a month or so until he gets an idea of where he wants and needs to be.

If anyone has any ideas where to look please drop a post.

Grant

Thank you.

He'll be working in the City Centre. Tell's me bang in the middle.

He has no idea where he wants to live, so is looking for a room with decent commuting to and from the centre (tube?). His car is coming down (don't get excited it's a Mazda6), so would prefer somewhere with on-street parking.

All he wants is a cheap room for a month or so to help him get his bearings and decide where to settle.
He's afraid of taking out a lease for six months and after a week realising he's made a bad decision.

Any help or advice most appreciated.

You know it's a big place??

Find out exactly where he's working and then go from there.

There are plenty of short lets on Gumtree. Tell him to start there, once he's worked out where he wants to live.

And tell him not to bring the car until he's moved in and settled. Getting an on-street parking permit is far from easy, and most Councils will want to see the car registered to a local property.

If you can tell us the studios he'll be at then more relevant advice about suitable train connections etc will be more forthgcoming.

Even if he brings his car early on, he will be unlikely to be commuting in it.

When he says "bang in the middle of the city" that might mean Westminster to a non-Londoner, or somewhere like Upper Thames St to a local. Neither of which locations are awash in TV studios/facilities, but there are quite a few scattered on the periphery and getting the train journey right between residence and worksplace can save hours of travelling grief on a daily basis.

Might mean the London Studios on the South Bank. Very central and about as big as they get in London no?
