Looks like I might need a crash pad in London. All I need is easy access to King’s cross and Paddington, reasonable rent and an area which isn’t too dodgy.

Where should I be looking?

You need to define your concept of reasonable. Budget is everything in London.

London is a funny one as everything to do with housing just seems expensive. I'm partly trying to figure out what is “reasonable” but no more than £1200pm (Which is 2x what I’m paying for my current non-London crash pad) and preferably much less.

It doesn’t need to be posh as I’m going to sleep there 3-4 days a week and watch a little TV on some of the evenings and that is really it.

http://www.mondaytofriday.com/ is what you need. I used to rent my spare room through that site to a chap who lived in North Yorkshire but was contracting in London. He arrived Monday evening, left Thursday morning (went home after work Thurs and WFH Friday). I charged him £400 a month all bills inc, for a small ish double in a nice terrace house in E2. (In price terms that was about 4 years ago.)

Great arrangement, I hardly saw him (decent chap though) and he had saved loads vs hotels and had all usual house facilities.

Hello

Are there any alternatives to spareroom.co.uk for finding a room in London ? I'm looking at spending no more than 500 pcm for somewhere within a 5 mile radius of Vauxhall ( where I work ).

Godspeed

Aha, the great London problem of finding flats. Gumtree has a small a small selection of scams, any other sites worth a look ?

Why does London not have a decent online Classifieds ?
