Hi guys. I'm attending my graduation ceremony at Middlesex Uni, Hendon on the 19th July here: http://www.mdx.ac.uk/aboutus/Location/hendon/index...

I'll have my parents, OH and our 13 yr old daughter with me. I'd like to eat somewhere local to the University afterwards. Looking for something pleasant, smart but not too expensive...I'll be paying no doubt wink

Thanks!

Nick

Bread and Wine is a minute from the university but it's not fancy, it just feels like you're going to dinner at a friend's house - the food is good, though (but it's a bit more expensive than I think it should be). Does it have to be in Hendon? Are you driving? What kind of food do you like? Oh, and congratulations.

Thanks Swoxy smile I'll be driving back to Worcestershire so I'll be in the car anyway, though I don't really want to go deeper into town - much. What does come to mind as a wild card is to eat at Ace Cafe. Are they open in the eve's? I'll look.

Between us we enjoy anything from a curry to good pub grub. So plenty of scope there smile

Easy parking would be a real boon too.

I don't normally eat fancy locally (for that I go into town), I just eat nice food.

Wing Tai on Staples Corner has good Chinese food, with good decor and average service (it's not bad, just not extremely friendly - like most Chinese restaurants, I suppose). You can park in the free car park outside.

Chix Chox in Finchley has become a bit of an institution, it's frequented by local old people during the day and families in the evening. Similar to Bread and Wine, it's like eating at someone's house, except the prices are more reasonable. It has a comprehensive Italian and English menu and the service is great. It also serves the best ice cream I've ever had in London as well as pancakes, waffles and cakes - it's well known for desert. It's not fancy at all, it feels very homely and has something for all of the family. You can park in the pay and display car park around the corner or on the pay and display road outside.

Haven in Whetstone is the fanciest local restaurant that I've visited, but I wouldn't go there with all of the family. You can park on the pay and display road outside.
