We will be visiting London for our wedding anniversary, and thinking of driving into 'town' for the meals we have booked. Benares on Monday night, and Ramseys (RHR) on Tuesday.

Looking at google maps, there is on street pay and display around RHR and Berkley square. Is there any chance of getting a spot in the early evening around either area? Would prefer that, as the wife does not drink, and it would be cheaper than taxi.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

Depends what time you're arriving - the best time to bag a space is 6.30ish just as the restrictions are ending (and the shops shutting) but before the night-time economy gets into full swing.

That said, I think you'll be fine on a Monday and Tuesday.

For Ramseys, there are some P&D spaces on RHR. There are also quite a few on Durham Place. P&D ends at 6.30 so its free after that. HOWEVER most of the residents bays around there are restricted until 10pm, so make sure you park in a P&D (or check the signs carefully if you park in a resi bay).

And I've never had too much trouble parking near Berkely Sq. It's best to look at the streets to the west, rather than to the east, in my experience. There are quite a few P&D spaces on Hill Street - which again become f.o.c. at 6.30pm if memory serves.

Thanks for that, driving in on the two nights, from canary wharf doesn't sound like too mad an idea then.

Cheers.
