So, I've been out of the country for a couple of weeks. Back in the UK, and almost all of central London seems to have extensive holes in the road & pavements being dug up. Is this just to make it pretty for the olympic visitors, or something more sinister. or am I imaging it ?
More likely that local autherities needed to spend all of their available cash before the end of the April tax year. Camden is currently a complete mess (even more than usual)!
Lots of water main works (much of London's are from the Victorian era and need replacing), Crossrail, and generally getting works out of the way before the Olympics as they will be very restricted on what can be done when the games are on.
