I have been chosen to be best man at my mates wedding so that means organising the most important part, the stag do. So far we have organised to go to twickenham to watch England v Fiji. When it comes to night life I haven't got much of an idea in London.

So what are the best places for pubs and good clubs. I have been looking at leicester square/Covent garden which looks good.

Any help Is appreciated.

Thanks

Adam

What sort of stuff do you want to do? Comedy store? Live music? Clubbing? Fine dining?

It will be a mix of ages from me 24 up to 45ish. We are planning on staying in a cheapish hotel that's close to the good pubs and clubs etc. not really bothered about the comedy shows. Not really sure on budget.

If you can be more specific on what sort of thing you are looking for then you'll get better advice cos the place is massive and there's loads of choice obvs. Personally I'd avoid Leicester Sq like the plague, and be wary of Covent Garden. The longer people live in London the less they go out in the west end. If you want central maybe soho but you'll need a plan of where etc. Shoreditch always reliable. Islington is decent loads of pubs a few late night places.

You can have a great night out in Shoreditch/Liverpool Street/Hoxton/Brick Lane (about a mile square area). Something for everybody. Take a map though and don't ask people in Liverpool St where to go out in Shoreditch and vice-versa. They won't know. I worked in LS for four years before my first night out in Shoreditch, which is right next door and about 100% better for drinking. Duh!

West end is the easy choice, but harder to make work for a big night out.

And Richmond is good, next door to Twickenham. It might be a bit of a sausage-fest after the rugby though.

+1 all this. West End is majorly touristy/chavvy/expensive/cr4p. Shoreditch best area central ish. Camden perhaps. South bank SE1 if weather is nice (summer time doo?)
