Garage Space - London

Hey Folks

I live in East Central London and I have on street parking but am looking to move one of my cars closer to where I live (my wife refers to this requirement as pandering to my separation anxiety). The problem is that I'm not getting the use out of the car and it's a bit frustrating to do a 40 mile round trip to the car storage facility where she is stored. I also think that the guys at the facility are getting a bit annoyed with the way I'm using their space as they're used to collectors who barely run their cars.

I was wondering what other members do and if anyone has any recommendations for secure storage that is a bit closer to London.

I spoke to Central Car Storage who are based in Hendon but the woman I spoke to on the phone seemed to have interpreted my questions about whether there was CCTV, lockable gates, access and so forth as my casing the place. I explained that their website did little to reassure me of their suitability and I was not going to hand my keys over to someone without a degree of due diligence. Needless to say, she failed to convince me.

I rent a single lock-up garage in Battersea that I found through Gumtree.

And it might be worth contacting your local Council to see if they have any available.

There are tons of crappy new build appartments in Limehouse/Canary Wharf etc. with underground car parks up for rent by the owners.

Thanks guys, talking to some estate agents but I'm keener to get a lock up garage versus renting a space. Was kinda hoping that someone knew a decent storage facility within easy reach of East Central.

If you live in Camden you can contact Canden councils parking team. For less then £1000 a year you can use one of their secure car parks. I use the one by the British museum.

I think that there is a secure parking place (perhaps similar to the one that you've had problems with) in London N7 (Camden side of LB of Islington) try googling. As I've seen it advertised in some of the larger Classic car magazines.

There is a nice lock up garage for sale in Fitzrovia / Marylebone with a second floor storage facility currently for sale at around £400,000, leasehold!!!!
