Well, it's designed as a track car! So it really doesn't make sense to drive on the streets. It doesn't have headlights, or bumpers, or airbags, or windshield, or doors... you know, all those pesky things that the USA requires.Dave Simkin was telling me that Lotus USA has sold about 300 track only cars (340R, Elise Sport 190, Elise Motorsport, Exige S1, Exige Cup) So I guess they'll be able to sell 2-Eleven as well.
The UK has the Single Vehicle Approval, SVA, and they can drive Radical's on the street.

It's my understanding - (please correct me if I'm wrong or if this is UK only) that you can order it with a "road pack". this adds luxuries like headlights and brings the wing width in. Doors aren't required, bumpers would be the same as the Elise (ie none/built into the front structure). airbags - it's the same steering wheel as the Elise. There is a vestigial screen.
I can't comment on whether any of this helps you to drive one on the road in the US though !

The 2-Eleven could, perhaps, be titled as a "Kit Car", much like the Superformance Cobras, but that would probably ruin the aesthetic value.
I would simply run it on the streets illegally and beg forgiveness when caught. Rural cops are very forgiving in the South.
It would be no different from driving a go-kart or unlicensed motor scooter on the roads.
The real issue is the price. Dealers are demanding $82,500 for them. For that amount of money, one can buy a Z-06 Corvette. $42,000 will buy a 430 HP Corvette, brand new here.

After two years of ownership I can attest to the following,
1. some dealers may have asked 82k, Star motor cars did not and sold it at the listed price of 78k.
2. A vette may be cheaper, but on the track I have yet to see one pass the 2-11.
3. Considering how stiff the suspension is and how low to the ground the car is, to drive it on the open road would be plain stupid.
4. It may have been an extravagence, but I have no regrets in having made the purchase and still giggle like a loon everytime out on the track.

The 6 speed version is slightly shorter than the OEM Honda MT6 box, 7 speed is some 18mm longer, asides that it's identical.

currently the ratio's are:
1st - 2.923
2nd - 2.059
3rd - 1.600
4th - 1.304
5th - 1.120
6th - 1.000
7th - 0.926
then the following FD options:

3.7059
4.1250
(other ratio's can be done, but would be one-off's at this stage)
Torque rating wise, we are initially looking at 500Nm, but realistically, I would suggest that it will deal with 800+Nm (although the diff choice will need to be though about.)
Jamie Willson has one in his Time Attack Exige, in which he has just won the 2012 Club-Pro championship title last weekend at Snetterton, with the car setting the outright time attack lap record for the Snetterton 300 cct.
