SIR Light still ON, Help!!

I installed a MOMO wheel on my 90'Esprit and installed a 2.2K ohm resistor inline on the air bag wires as instructed in a lotus article I came across and my SIR light is still ON!! Anybody have any suggestions?

If you have removed the airbag ie put on a non airbag wheel then why not just pull the fuse/bulb on the light?

No separate fuse and to much work to get to the bulb!!!
